Hi there—I'm Sophia

I work as a project manager. I’m a parent and an expat based in Vancouver, Canada.

Several years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Started

Moving to Canada wasn’t part of the long-range plan. As with many expatriate moves, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.

The initial months were demanding — new processes, new routines, new expectations. Daily chores felt more challenging than they ought to be.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began shaping something that felt steady.

Why I Created Quiet Cottage Loom

Most online guidance was either high-level corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a sincere, everyday family viewpoint.

This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Canada.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

This site is:

  • Practical insights from life in Canada
  • Centered on family life and daily realities
  • Updated whenever something truly changes

This site isn't:

  • Not a tourism authority resource
  • Not a sponsored review platform
  • Not a generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our stay in Canada continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we find.

If you have questions about family life in Vancouver or anywhere in Canada, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards,

Sophia
